FCAT Tutoring in Your Home
each program tailored to your student's needs
The Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) is part of Florida’s overall plan to increase student achievement by implementing higher standards. The FCAT, administered to students in Grades 3-11, covers mathematics, reading, science, and writing from the Sunshine State Standards (SSS). At different points in a child's school career, a passing FCAT score is needed to pass on to the next grade -- which can lead to very nervous parents as the FCAT approaches each spring.

At what grade levels must students pass the FCAT?
Grade 3 students must earn an FCAT Reading score of Level 2 or higher on a scale of 1 – 5 in order to be promoted to Grade 4. Graduating seniors must pass both the Reading and Mathematics sections of the Grade 10 FCAT to graduate from high school with a standard high school diploma. Requirements of FCAT scores for passing to the next grade level are set by school districts throughout Florida. Note: Florida is transitioning to FCAT 2.0 and End of Course tests. Our tutors are staying abreast of the changes.
Do students with disabilities receive accommodations on the FCAT?
Yes. Federal law (the Individuals with Disabilities Act of 1997) requires the inclusion of students with disabilities in regular assessment programs. Therefore, every effort is made to provide a level playing field for students with disabilities taking the FCAT and seeking a standard high school diploma. Testing accommodations are offered to a student who has been assigned to a special program and has a current Individual Educational Plan (IEP) or 504 plan.
The Florida Dept. of Education website has plenty of FCAT information.
